Drug interactions with Levofloxacin

It can be used to treat respiratory tract infections (acute bacterial sinusitis, chronic bronchitis, pneumonia), skin infections (abscesses, cellulitis, furuncles, impetigo, pyoderma, wound infections), urinary tract infections and prostatitis, endocarditis, stomach infections (Salmonella gastroenteritis, shigellosis, travelers’ diarrhea), anthrax, chlamydial infections, gonorrhea, acute epididymitis, meningitis and CNS infections, mycobacterial infections, pelvic inflammatory disease and plague.drug
For safe and effective treatment with Levofloxacin, it is important to understand that some other drugs may interact with this antibiotic and that these interactions should be avoided.
Do not use with Levofloxacin the following meds:
•    NSAIDs including aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, celecoxib, diclofenac, indomethacin, meloxicam;
•    diuretics;
•    theophylline;
•    heart rhythm medication such as amiodarone, disopyramide, dofetilide, dronedarone, procainamide, quinidine, sotalol;
drug interactions•    antidepressants and antipsychotic medicines including: amitriptylline, clomipramine, desipramine, iloperidone, imipramine, nortriptyline.
Other medicines may also affect the way Levofloxacin acts in your body. Be sure to tell your doctor about all other drugs and vitamins you use before starting Levofloxacin.
